September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

If you are unable to join us at the Frog Pond, GNOCA will provide ceremony & decorating ideas with your Lantern Kit. Decorating the lantern is your choice. People who prefer a simpler lantern, may chose to leave their lanterns blank! 

A Lantern Lighting Ceremony with music & poetry & readings & videos is available ‘on demand’ by clicking here. You can create your own private family celebration or plan a ‘Neighborhood Lantern Festival’ with friends & neighbors. The day & time to light your lantern is entirely up to you!

Will you be floating your lantern with us on the Frog Pond at the Mall? Or do you have a special place in your house or your garden? Will you be shining a light on your front porch? Where will you display YOUR GNOCA Lantern?

Lantern Purchase

GNOCA Lantern Kits will be available at the Frog Pond on Saturday, June 29,2024 starting at 6:30p for a suggested donation of $10 per Lantern. Lantern decorating supplies and stencils & calligraphers will be available at no charge.

Advance Lantern Kits for Home use will include: a Lantern & Battery Operated Tea Light & a Program / Ceremony Template with Lantern Decorating Ideas.

Battery lights ONLY for home use! Please Remember - the Lanterns are Flammable & should NOT be used with an Open Flame Candle.

If you are floating Lanterns on a private pond, we recommend collecting the lanterns & battery tea lights at the end of your celebration to be environmentally responsible.

You are Welcome to order Multiple Lanterns to Celebrate Multiple Memories & LOTS of Good Wishes! Personally decorated lanterns make thoughtful gifts!

Lantern Festival Volunteers

Do you like to volunteer? A successful Lantern Festival needs LOTS of Volunteers! What are your skills? Do you like to help with set-up or tear down? If you are friendly, maybe you would like to be a greeter? Do you like to help give directions & information? Would you like to help at a decorating table or help with Calligraphy? We love our volunteers!

GNOCA is always eager to welcome new volunteers to our group. Please contact us if you have questions or ask to join our mailing list to stay advised of future activities.

Parking

Parking around Bartlet Mall is limited, so please arrive early to find a parking space nearby. Downtown Newburyport has several public parking lots within a 5 to 10 minute walk. Biking or carpooling is great, too.

CVS graciously allows us to use the Parking Lot BEHIND the CVS Building. Please be considerate of their business & do not park in the customer spaces at the front of CVS. Thank you!
